filled up, torn open

"The expansive film-based project filled up, torn open (2022) is centered around a documented live-action performance. The narrative unfolds in fragments, an array of visual and sonic elements collide in an algorithmic narrative sequence, akin to the perpetual feed of TikTok in which anonymous characters engage in a range of ritualistic, intimate, and violent acts. Throughout the piece, an unyielding tension and an ever-present sense of threat persist, deliberately unresolved within its looped format—a perpetually rising climax that never finds culmination. The characters’ actions are charged with feelings of desire, rage, and hope, but ultimately evolve into seemingly aimless and condemned acts, echoing the futile struggles of Sisyphus. Layered over the non-verbal performance are various additional media elements, including 3D renders, AI animations, found footage, poetry, pop songs, and fragments of text from novels, the internet, and everyday conversations alongside a musical composition. These elements collide and blurr the boundaries between notions of the internal and external, self and other, online and offline."

From Deividas Vytautas

For this project I composed a hybrid electronic/acoustic soundtrack to blend seamlessly with audio from various found footage clips, narration, and edited pop music. I was tasked with not only creating the music, but also editing the extra sound elements and ensuring they all work together.
